We had a brilliant few weeks painting birds and animals taught by Louise Jannetta. We started by making a 3D armature of the bird/animal to understand the body structure. Then we painted the backgrounds with watercolour on Clairefontaine Pastemat paper. What a treat! It takes paint beautifully.
The final stage was to create our bird or animal using pastels and pastel pencils. We learnt lots and Louise was a thoughtful and careful teacher, who explained everything really well. The images in the slide show are mainly part finished. Louise’s lovely demo of an owl is number 15 of the slides.
A word for Monday-night people - even if you aren’t really into painting birds and animals, you will learn a lot from this. I didn’t think it was for me, but I found it very enjoyable.
